211 service in Ontario is delivered by six independent information & referral organizations that utilize digital technology to enable an efficient, seamless service province-wide. Accredited by the Alliance of Information & Referral Systems (AIRS), they are the only professionally accredited nonprofit contact centres in Ontario. Visit www.211ontario.ca
211’s Data Curators work closely with community data partners across the province to manage an Ontario-wide, comprehensive inventory of 60,000+ community, social, health and government services.
Community Connection is one of five 211 service providers in Ontario. 211 service providers are community-based organizations (not vendors) engaged in multiple partnerships and collaborative tables focused on addressing local and regional community needs. They engage their local communities through cross-sector partnerships and leverage joined-up funding to develop new or customized services, usually for specific target populations.
Community Connection’s data partners are Information Barrie and Perth Huron United Way.
Together they maintain the community resources for their region.
All listed organizations and programs are contacted at least annually to update their information, and Resource Specialists continually monitor news and social media for changes and additions to services.
The inventory is used internally by 211's Community Navigators to identify available resources. Community resources are also available to other human services organizations and the public at 211Ontario.ca, as well as many custom online directories.
