DescriptionPromotes mental health through community education, prevention, and rehabilitation programs as well as provides assessment services to substance misusing and gambling clients (12 years and older) * can provide resource people for public speaking and a library of books and videos for viewing by the public and professional practitioners

Mental Health Programs

Programs include Intensive Case Management, Outreach, Brief Service and Housing Support Services, two Assertive Community Treatment Teams, Human Services and Justice System Project (HSJS) which includes Court Support Services and Release from Custody Services, Mental Health Clubhouse - RSVP (Recreational, Social, Vocational,Peer Support), Early Psychosis Intervention Services, Community Awareness program, Volunteer Program and Self Help Groups * Crisis Services include the Mental Health Crisis Line, Mobile Crisis Response System, and Residential Crisis Beds(CARAH House)

Addiction Services

Addiction services include a methadone maintenance treatment program for opiate users (in Barrie and Wasaga Beach) as well as 'Umbrellas' a program for pregnant women who abuse substances * medical services for clients provided through a Nurse Practitioner * provides counselling for clients with a substance abuse problem as well as for people experiencing problems with gambling and supportive counselling for others affected by it * services include referral of substance abusing youth to youth outpatient treatment program and referral of adults to appropriate inpatient treatment programs

Supports the development and continuance of self-help groups as a viable community resource for individuals experiencing difficulties * self-help groups are groups where individuals who share a common problem or issue can come together to lend support, understanding and encouragement to one another

Annual Christmas Gift Campaign

Gifts are distributed to approximately 1100 people living with mental health or addiction issues residing in special care homes, nursing homes and in the community at large * donations of new unwrapped gifts such as winter hats, gloves, shampoo, socks, toothpaste, hand lotion and sweets accepted at office * call Katherine Palumbo at 705-726-5033, Ext 236 for more information about this program

Annual Winter Coat and Boot Drive

Accepts donations of winter coats and boots to supply to clients * annually November-early December * drop off donations at 4 Checkley St, Suite 304

Member of the North Simcoe Muskoka Community Support Services Coalition * National Mental Health Week is in May each year
VOLUNTEER_DESCVolunteers help with reception and clerical assistance, fundraising events, Board of Directors and Committees, Bingo and other programs, call for more information
