Description
DescriptionHTG is an association of individuals and groups in Simcoe County. The organization promotes trails in general, and more specifically the conversion of abandoned railway lines to greenways. There are many trails in forests, conservation areas, etc. Trails can be used for hiking, nature watching, cycling, cross country skiing, and where permitted horseback riding,ATVing, motorcycles and snowmobiling. Trails in Simcoe County include the Uhthoff Trail, Tiny Trail, Georgian Trail, Lake Country Oro-Medonte Trail, North Simcoe Railtrail, Thornton-Cookstown Trans Canada Trail, the Waterfront Trails of Midland, Barrie, Orillia, Collingwood, Wasaga Beach and Penetanguishene, the Ganaraska Trail, and various other trails. This organization also has taken on the responsibility to coordinate the building of the Trans Canada Trail through Simcoe County, and has published a booklet and website maps with 30 looptrails and linear trails in conservation areas, county forests, municipal parks, etc. Go to www.simcoecountytrails.net for more information.
