Description & Services
DescriptionAn annual cultural festival and temporary museum celebrating the Francophone heritage of the Lafontaine area. Its name is derived from a local legend of a wolf that was destroying flocks of sheep. Local francophones who had come from separate areas in Quebec had not socialized with each other until fear of the wolf united them in a common cause: eliminate the wolf. That was then. Now, the wolf is seen as a symbol of unity for the community and the Festival du Loup is a time for families to enjoy a carnavalesque atmosphere on the 3rd weekend of July. Full festival program is available on the website.
