Provides information on municipal by-law enforcement including by-laws related to business licences, animal control, lottery licences (includes licences for Break-Open, raffles and bingo), parking tickets, parking on private property, parks, smoking/vaping, noise, property standards, signs, special events, fire routes, lawn watering, street numbering, tree cutting, etc., see separate record for full information on Dog and Cat Registrations

Parking
- City by-law 2007-209 restricts overnight parking on any street between 12 midnight and 7am from Dec 1 through Mar 31 annually, as well as during an announced winter maintenance event, exception to this by-law is the Downtown Business Improvement Area where parking of a vehicle is prohibited between 3am and 6am
- intent of the by-law is to allow for street maintenance and snow removal and will be enforced whether there is snow or not
- Parking fees (on-street and in City parking lots) are enforced Monday-Friday 9 am-5 pm, unless otherwise specified by by-law
- Motorists displaying a valid Ontario Accessible Parking Permit are exempt from paying for parking in any permitted municipal parking areas provided the vehicle is transporting the individual owning the Accessible Parking Permit.
- Unauthorized use of the Accessible Parking Permit may result in immediate confiscation of the permit by the officer
- an Accessible Parking Permit does not entitle the motorist to park in any area where parking is otherwise not permitted
- Resident Parking Pass, Waterfront
- Barrie residents will require a Resident Parking Pass in order to park for free at specific waterfront areas

- During the month of December, all ON-STREET metered parking in the downtown area will be free for a 2 hour period of time, all off-street lots continue to be paid parking during this period
- Vehicles displaying an Ontario Veteran's licence plate are exempt for parking fees for on-street parking for a maximum of two hours
- Outstanding parking tickets can be paid via barrie.ca/OnlineServices To make use of the online payment system users will need to provide the ticket number, license plate number and a credit card. Visa and Mastercard are accepted for parking ticket payments
Business Licences
- Various businesses operating within the City of Barrie are required to obtain a City of Barrie business licence
- City's licensing by-laws may be viewed on line at Business Permits and Licenses or you may contact the Enforcement Services Office at 739-4241 during regular business hours to determine if your business requires a licence
Animal Control and Urban Wildlife
- Personnel provide services, as feasible, for removing dead animals on city property only. Urban Wildlife
- City of Barrie no longer has a reimbursement program for residents needing to pay for removal of wildlife, home owners are encouraged to ensure their property is maintained and all items are stored correctly so as to discourage any wildlife from entering the property
Fences Act
- Enforcement Services NO LONGER mediates disputes under the Line Fences Act
- Persons can address this civilly should a dispute arise on the mutual construction of a fence between properties
Heat for Rented Dwellings
- By-law 82-137 requires the maintenance of adequate and suitable heat for rented or leased dwellings / living accommodations within the City of Barrie

Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Stations
- Select parking spaces are designated for charging electric vehicles, gas-powered vehicles that park in spaces with EV charging stations will be ticketed
- to determine if a parking space is designated for charging electric vehicles, look for an EV charging station sign
