Description
Description (Service) Provides communication and hearing health support services which enables people with a hearing loss to carry out daily living activities independently, safely, and with reduced communication difficulties * specific services include:

Home Visits to provide information or counselling on understanding hearing loss and managing difficult listening situations * use, care and maintenance of hearing aids and other listening systems * selecting and using specialized communication equipment, e.g. telephones, alarm clocks, television accessories * referrals to other community services

Accessibility Consulting Services provide a full menu of services to help businesses identify current communication barriers, meet accessibility needs, and comply with all aspects of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) * includes facility assessments, technology assessments, education and training workshops

Education and training to consumers, family, caregivers and general public including family support and communication training, in-service training to home-support providers, presentations/community displays

Falls Prevention - Dizziness and balance issues are often directly related to hearing health * additionally, since people rely on sound for orientation in the environment, a person may not be as quickly aware of a potentially hazardous situation when hearing is decreased * therefore, proper hearing health and hearing loss management are important components of falls prevention
