Description (Service)

An emergency shelter for women and gender diverse individuals experiencing homelessness and half-way house for women and gender diverse individuals under supervision of Ministry of the Solicitor General and Correctional Services Canada or on bail

  • Joyce Kope House provides 25 safe beds for women over the age of 18 years
  • Rules include: No violence, nightly curfew
  • Shelter Participants at Joyce Kope House are assigned a Case Worker to assist with goal setting and housing resources

Women eligible to stay at Joyce Kope House include:
  • Women and gender diverse individuals released from correctional institutions on parole, temporary absence passes, bail, probation, or on a conditional sentence
  • Women and gender diverse individuals experiencing homelessness, those being released from mental health facilities, going to and from treatment centres, released from detoxification centres, and/or fleeing domestic violence

Women can self-refer if they are experiencing homelessness. Same sex partner/spouse accepted.
Application Referrals - self, correctional institutions, mental health facilities, shelters, alcohol & drug rehabilitation centres, hospitals, community agencies etc.
