Description (Service) | COVID-19 Response All programs and services have been suspended * free daily bread and emergency items available as listed below * drop-in Mon and Wed (ID clinic, vouchers) - suspended * Tax Clinic - suspended * Community Laundry and Shower - suspended * free daily bread available at the door as long as donations received * emergency items e.g. baby items, call into the office at 705-728-3737 to see what arrangements can be made * Aug 17, 2020 - Back to School Backpack Campaign is not currently running, this may change in the next couple of weeks if approval to run is received Regular Services Provides emergency assistance to families in need of food, clothing and household items, counselling also provided * accepts donations of non-perishable food items, baby formula, diapers, baby food and usable work boots Programs include: Back to School Backpack Campaign To donate, drop off a backpack/knapsack filled with school supplies, an empty backpack or school supplies at the Bayside Mission Centre * backpacks are distributed before school in August and September Back to Work Program Provides new or gently used work boots to individuals who have legitimate work offers (boots and sizes as available), call for information * usable work boots can be dropped off at the Bayside Mission Centre at any time Coats for Kids and Folks Campaign Annual Campaign takes place in November * the Salvation Army provides donated coats to the homeless and other individuals and families who do not have a warm coat for the winter * donated coats can be dropped off a at the Family Services office at the Salvation Army Bayside Mission Centre, 16 Bayfield St, Barrie * coats are distributed from the Family Services Ministry offices in November * after November vouchers for the Salvation Army Thrift store can be provided Baby's Closet Provides emergency assistance to parents with young children * items such as diapers, formula, baby food and baby wipes are available ID Clinic Assists low income individuals in obtaining an Ontario Birth Certificate by appointment only Internet Café Provides access to internet and word processing for the purposes of job searching and connecting with family Family Tracing Service Provides forms for persons wishing to trace missing relatives, the individual must send the form to Salvation Army Family Tracings Service in Toronto Cooking and Baking Classes Call main office for scheduled classes Community Kitchen Programs Community laundry and shower Fresh Air Camp and Mom and Tots Camp Christmas Assistance See separate record |
