Archive is:

• a free, online museum that exists to preserve, protect and promote Barrie's history through digital media in the form of images, video, documents and audio
• funded entirely by community donations, financial donations are used for web hosting, film transfer or other preservation activity, maintenance and support of the Archive

To build the archive:

• volunteers with the Barrie Historical Archive borrow photos, slides, film and videos taken in Barrie
• volunteers work with professionals to ensure borrowed property is cared for and digitized professionally
• volunteers conduct and document research relevant to archival materials and projects
• every contributor is recognized by name with each archival entry
