Description (Service) Liquids and hazardous wastes are not permitted in the landfill * residents are encouraged to bring in any household hazardous wastes and/or batteries for safe disposal through the Household Hazardous Waste Depot * all hazardous material should be in original containers 
 
Items for Hazardous Waste Depot 
 
* Hazardous Wastes include: corrosive materials, battery acids, drain and oven cleaners  
* Toxic materials include: pesticides, fluorescent light bulbs, thermometers, pharmaceuticals, cleaning fluids  
* Reactive materials include: ammonia, bleach, pool chemicals  
* Flammable materials include: gasoline, paints, aerosols and oils (empty paint and aerosol containers can be placed in the blue box with lids and cap removed)  
* Other materials include cosmetics, glues, batteries, propane tanks (barbecue and single use canister), and sharps (needles and syringes from household, medical use in rigid containers only)  
* Propane gas cylinders and car batteries  
 
* does not accept commercial and/or industrial waste, radioactive waste, explosives or ammunition, unidentifiable materials, or waste containing bio-hazards  
 
* Spills of oil and other hazardous wastes should be reported for action by phone 705-726-4242 (24 hours 7 days a week)

Items for Blue Box Recycling  
 
* Empty paint and empty aerosol cans - remove the lid and dispensing nozzle (if possible) from the empty can before placing it in your blue box * aerosol cans that are not empty can pose an explosion risk in recycling facilities and must be taken to the Household Hazardous Waste Depot 
 
* Empty dry paint cans - remove the lid to allow the remaining paint to dry inside the can and on the lid * place both the can and the lid in your blue box * can sizes are limited to 4 litres and under * paint cans that are not empty must be taken to the Household Hazardous Waste Depot
