Monthly allowance available to spouses or common-law partners of Guaranteed Income Supplement recipients

    Areas Served Barrie ; Simcoe County ; Angus; Alliston; Innisfil; Midhurst; Elmvale
    Eligibility All of the following conditions must be met:
    • aged 60 to 64 (includes the month of 65th birthday)
    • spouse or common-law partner receives an Old Age Security pension (OAS) and is eligible for the Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS)
    • Canadian citizen or a legal resident
    • reside in Canada and have resided in Canada for at least 10 years since the age of 18
    • spouse or common-law partner's annual combined income is less than the maximum allowable annual threshold, see website for threshold and more details
    Application

    • Apply online at OAS Allowance
      • Apply 6 to 11 months before 60th birthday
    • paper application form can be printed from website, see Application Form and Information Sheet for OAS Allowance and returned to local Service Canada office or mailed to:
