Description (Service) | Auxiliary police officers may be used at parades, Police Week displays, other events promoting crime prevention or partner with sworn police officers on regular patrols * Auxiliary members are prominent at Remembrance Day celebrations and the annual Santa Claus parade Auxiliary members must be available for a minimum of 12 hours each month, and must be able to attend regular in-service training sessions * initial training consists of classroom instruction, physical restraining methods, and firearms familiarization * although Auxiliary members are not issued firearms, they must be capable of handling them, in unusual or critical circumstances |
