Description (Service) Dedicated to the preservation of the rich history and heritage of Barrie by educating and informing the public about history and heritage of Barrie * promote and support the teaching of local history in Barrie's schools 
Has produced four videos and two DVD's on the history of Barrie * videos include - Barrie's Centennial Celebrations 1953 * Summer Activities and Main Street Parade 1953 * Town of Barrie in 1957 (two films on one video) * Barrie in the 1940's * and Barrie's 150th birthday, 2003 * Two DVD's include - Barrie in the 1940's * Barrie's 150th Birthday 2003 (a historical summary of Barrie's development) * videos and DVDs are available at the Simcoe County Museum in Midhurst * new DVD added Nov 2011 Barrie's Centennial Celebrations 1953 available at Simcoe County Museum, and Rivendell Books in Wellington Plaza 
Barrie's 150th Birthday Book, 'Beautiful Barrie - The City and Its People, An Illustrated History' by Su Murdoch, Brad Rudachyk and K.H. Schick, endorsed by the City of Barrie Sesquicentennial Committee and the Barrie Historical Association is still available in limited quantities * call Su Murdoch for more information at 705-728-5342 
Has created an award to honour businesses, government and individuals for their efforts to celebrate Barrie's history * recipients of the award will be those who display pictures and memorabilia of Barrie's past in areas that are accessible to the general public * each recipient will receive a certificate suitable for framing and a picture of Barrie's waterfront * members of the public are encouraged to submit nominations for the award to the Historical Association's mailing address 
Has produced brochures about Barrie's Historic Locations Plaques along the Waterfront, available at the Barrie Public Library * plaques are sponsored by the BHA in cooperation with the City of Barrie
