* Local History Collection, including local newspapers on Microfilm/fiche, Births/Deaths/Marriages indexes, microfilm/fiche reader/printers at Downtown Branch 
* Barrie Public Library, Downtown Branch, houses a musical instrument library in partnership with the Huronia Symphony Orchestra (available starting October 2017) 
* Barrie Public Library, Downtown Branch, houses the library collection of the Ontario Genealogical Society, Simcoe County Branch 
* computers with Office 2007 (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) and internet access are available for public use

City bus northbound (Route 3A Stop 192) arrives at corner nearest to the Library (south side of Collier St at Owen St) and is scheduled to stop 6 minutes before the hour and 24 minutes after the hour (30 minute service Mon-Sat daytime) * service is hourly evenings and Sundays * scheduled to stop 24 minutes after the hour evenings and Sundays
