Description (Service) | COVID-19 Response In-person programs and services have been suspended indefinitely, but education programs, support services and social programs are available by phone and online * check our website and social media sites for program information and regular updates * Accepting new referrals * community partners can fax referrals using the First Link Referral form * members of the public can continue to call or email office to get connected to programs * Supportive counselling is being provided by phone, email or by virtual Ontario Telemedicine Network (OTN) visits * Support groups are being run though group video conferencing * Weekly Minds in Motion Social Sessions are being hosted online and at-home activity resources are being shared * Education programs for people living with dementia, and their care partners are being delivered monthly through group video conferencing * For more information or to access any of our programs, contact office at 705-722-1066 or email simcoecounty@alzheimersociety.ca * phones are being checked regularly and a staff member will connect with you as soon as possible Regular Service Confidential care partner support groups connect people (family & friends) who are supporting persons living with dementia * safe environment to share challenges and successes and realize you are not alone * talk to others who are going through similar experiences, increase understanding of dementia and develop and broaden coping strategies To enable care partners to attend the support group, a concurrent respite group for the person living with dementia, run by VON, is operated at the same time as the Care Partner support group * registration required for this program * please contact the Alzheimer Society to register |
