Description (Service)

SMART Program

offers exercise classes to community members 55+ who wish to improve their strength, balance and flexibility, regardless of current physical ability
program can be done standing, from a chair, or using an aide
program is available in many Retirement Homes, community locations as well as virtually across North Simcoe and Muskoka
In-home SMART exercise program available in Barrie only for those who cannnot leave their house, call or email for information

SMART Healthy Aging Education Series

12 session program available to individuals wishing to learn strategies to maintain independence and protect/promote their health
classes cover a variety of topics including bone health, nutrition, medication, home safety and brain health, among others

Falls Prevention
SMART Exercise classes are designed to increase strength and balance and reduce the risk of a fall

Hours	Exercise Classes: Mon-Fri 9 am-4 pm, up to 1 hour in duration, participants can choose to register for the class(es) of their choice

Eligibility	Residents of North Simcoe & Muskoka 55 yrs and older Residents of Ontario Health atHome North Simcoe Muskoka catchment area Barrie residents for in-home SMART Exercise Program

Languages	English; American Sign Language; Most classes are offered in English. One class, in partnership with Deaf Access Simcoe Muskoka, is taught in ASL by volunteers
Fees	None - Sponsored by Ontario Health ; Classes are free for participants.
