Description (Service) At around 3 pm on July 15th a tornado touched down in the south end of Barrie. There was extensive damage in the area of Prince William Way and Mapleview Dr in the south end of Barrie.  
 
On-Site Information Centre 
The information centre is now closed. Residents can call the tornado assistance line at 705-728-8442 (8:30 am-4:30 pm) or email  
building.official@barrie.ca 
 
All public lands in the area have now been cleared and fencing has been installed around buildings/sites with significant damage. The City is asking residents from other parts of the City to not tour the tornado recovery area, so those affected can clean up their properties. 
 
The Barrie Police Service has set up a central phone line for anyone who needs assistance related to the tornado in Barrie. Please call 705-728-8442 - call takers will take callers’ information to ensure a follow-up from the proper organization. 
 
Barrie & District Association of Realtors is working with the Red Cross to match short-term rentals with families who have been displaced by the tornado. Email info@bdar.ca for assistance. 
 
The Painswick branch of the Barrie Public Library has computers, free wi-fi, and laptops that can be borrowed in-branch for anyone that needs internet and computer access or a place to cool off. 
 
Service Ontario is offering no cost replacement for select documentation. Bring any identification or documentation that you may have available to prove ownership (e.g. licence plate number, insurance, Vehicle Identification Number) or application (e.g. account access) to a Service Ontario location. If you have no documentation, please go to a Service Ontario location and they will do their best to assist you.

Volunteers and Donations 
Due to the generosity of the community, offers of further physical donations or volunteers can no longer be accepted. Monetary donations to help those affected are being accepted by the Salvation Army (please mark 'tornado relief'), by dropping off at their 16 Bayfield St. location, or visit salvationarmy.ca/ for credit card donations and specify 'Barrie tornado'. The City thanks the community for the outpouring of support and offers to help. Donating through the Salvation Army is the best way to help the affected community, while allowing the essential site evaluation and clean up to occur. 
 
CMHA staff are available for anyone affected by the tornado. If you want to talk, reach out to them 24/7 at 1-888-893-8333.

The Ontario SPCA and Humane Society is ready to help support the pets affected by the storm. Anyone needing temporary housing or food for their animals during this time should call 310-SPCA (7722) 
 
The City’s Building Department has prepared FAQs to assist those who have been affected by the tornado. click here for details. The City has issued a statement regarding Building Code. 
 
ATTN ALECTRA CUSTOMERS: There have been reports of scammers posing as Alectra employees going door-to-door asking Barrie residents for money to inspect their home post-tornado. This is NOT Alectra, please be cautious and notify local law enforcement if you encounter these fraudsters. 
 
SCAM ALERT: The Insurance Bureau of Canada has received reports of a scam taking place in Barrie involving an individual offering ‘emergency work’ services. The person is charging homeowners upfront and then disappearing. If you suspect fraud, please contact Barrie Police at 705-725-7025.
