Description (Service) The Salvation Army facilitates an Adopt-a-Family and Christmas Assistance program for families in need over the holiday season * annual Christmas Kettle Campaign and Santa Shuffle help to raise funds for a variety of programs and services offered throughout the year 
Families who are not receiving "Christmas Cheer" can apply to be an 'adopted' family * if accepted, parents can make up a wish list of toys/gifts for their children and they will receive gift cards to buy food at local grocery stores and/or a food hamper * families are not eligible for this program in consecutive years * families will be 'adopted' by other families or by businesses * individuals or groups wishing to 'adopt' a family can call Tracy Calliste for information about what items are needed  
Christmas Assistance Program 
Last minute assistance for families who have missed the Christmas Cheer deadline and are not already receiving Christmas assistance from another organization * families will receive some toys for children and food items for a Christmas dinner e.g. turkey, potatoes, canned vegetables etc 
Santa Shuffle 
In partnership with the Running Room, the Salvation Army hosts the annual Santa Shuffle in early December * this fun run/walk raises money for families and individuals in need during the Christmas season and throughout the year * Santa Shuffle is the first Saturday in December, starts at 10 am at Heritage Park, Barrie Waterfront * Santa Shuffle is being held on Saturday December 2, 2017, see website for more information 
Christmas Kettle Campaign 
The Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Campaign is a fundraising effort that occurs each year during the Christmas season * Volunteers man kettles at a variety of locations around Barrie and are an opportunity for the public to donate whatever funds they can to support the work of The Salvation Army during the Christmas season and throughout the year

Public Comments People who have missed the Christmas Cheer deadline can apply for the Salvation Army's Christmas Assistance program * they cannot apply for both, and must show eligibility
Hours Office Hours: Mon-Fri 9 am-11:45 am and 12:30 pm-3:45 pm
Dates 2018: Adopt-A-Family applications accepted from Oct-mid Dec, delivery of items usually the third week of Dec
