When Environment Canada issues an extreme heat or cold alert, rest areas are available to residents for relief from extreme weather conditions. These can include public buildings such as libraries or community centres during regular business hours. Other buildings such as malls or cinemas that have air conditioning/heating could also be used.

In Northern Bruce Peninsula, the following libraries may be accessed in extreme weather conditions.

  • Lion's Head Public Library 90 Main St, Lion's Head, 519-793-3844 - Mon 9:30 am-5 pm, Wed 2 pm-6 pm, Thu 10 am-2 pm, Fri 9:30 am-5 pm, Sat 9:30 am-2 pm
  • Tobermory Public Libraryy 22 Bay St S, Tobermory, 519-596-2446 - Tue, Wed 10 am-1:30 pm, 2 pm-5 pm * Thu 12 noon-6 pm * Fri, Sat
    10 am-2 pm (Summer hours vary - please visit library.brucecounty.on.ca/locations for details)

The following municipal facilities are available to the public. Hours are irregular so call ahead to see if they are open.
