Description (Service) | Provide support and social gatherings to veterans and their families, and to the community * celebrates Legion Week in September * annual Poppy in October until Nov 11th * activities include: tag days, Remembrance Day parade followed by a service at the cenotaph and comradeship at the Legion * proceeds from the Poppy campaign are used to assist veterans and their families, bursaries for education, literacy and poster contest prizes Other annual events include: * New Year's Eve Dance * Robbie Burns night the Saturday before January 25 * District Public Speaking contest in Februay * Fish Fry in March * weekly bingo on Monday nights * ex-personnel and dependents program - see separate listing Provide a Bursary Program for eligible children or grandchildren of War Veterans who are Life or Ordinary Members of the Legion * Contact the bursary chair for more information |
