Description
Description (Service) | The Bruce Trail is the oldest and longest continuous volunteer maintained trail in Ontario, about 800 km in length. It runs from Niagara (Queenston), along the Niagara Escarpment, to Tobermory, with about 300 km of side trails. Most of the trail is moderate, with some easy sections, and about 100 km of very challenging terrain. Main trail is marked by white blazes on trees, rocks or other landmarks, with blue marks indicating side trails to lookouts, campsites, loops, shelters and water. Double blazes indicate sudden changes in direction. Public is invited to use this trail in a responsible manner for walking, hiking, cross-country skiing and snow shoeing. Annual events include a two day end-to-end hike for experienced hikers held in May. Also features an annual calendar to raise funds. |
