Description

Description (Service) The Town Of Collingwood is introducing its new On-Demand Transit (ODT) service with a phased approach. The ODT service differs from conventional transit in that there is no fixed route or schedule and buses are dispatched on a request-basis.

Phase One starts June 10, 2023, on all Saturdays and Sundays, with two buses operating to provide the conventional transit routes along with one bus that will be operating to provide the On-Demand service. This will allow users to access a conventional bus at the bus stop and times they are used to and provide an opportunity for users to try the On-Demand system for one trip of their route and ideally, reduce the full trip time.

Phase One will run on the weekends only for three months. During Phase One, the regular transit routes will operate on weekdays. The Town will operate this hybrid method in the interim and evaluate when full implementation is best suitable for the community.

Starting Saturday, August 12, 2023, the Crosstown Route is moving exclusively to an On-Demand Transit (ODT) model for weekends only. This means that rides must be scheduled in advance, using the app, website, or phone number. East and West routes will still run as scheduled but you can also book On-Demand.

Phase Two of the ODT service will run on weekday evenings and weekends. Phase Three will be fully on-demand.

Riders will be able to start reserving trips for the weekend of June 10th starting June 5, 2023 by downloading the Blaise Transit mobile app or calling 705-446-1196. A direct link to book will also be available on the Public Transit page of the Town website.

Customers can book a trip up to seven days in advance, or a minimum of 30 minutes before their departure time if booking for a same-day ride. Once booked, the bus will pick up and drop off at the existing stop locations throughout town.

The ODT will operate 7 am-9 pm during the weekends. Regular transit fares apply, but downloading the app and booking are free.

The first phase of ODT will only apply to existing routes (Colltrans East, West, and Crosstown) and transit stops. The Blue Mountain Link (B-Link) route is not part of the pilot.
