Description (Service) COVID-19 Response 
Due to COVID-19, there are no in-person income tax clinics for 2021. Follow instructions in Application section to arrange for assistance with income tax returns.  
 
Regular Service 
Program assists individuals to complete their income tax and benefit return. The Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP) volunteers prepare and E File returns if the individual meets the criteria. Able to file previous years 2016 - 2019. Any prior years, when completed, must be submitted to Canada Revenue Agency using Canada Post

Public Comments The cut off date for dropping off Income Tax Return packages is April 30, 2021. No other packages will be accepted past that date.

Eligibility Suggested maximum income levels  
 
Single Up to $30,000  
Two person family $40,000 (combined income of a couple, or one adult with one child under 18)  
$2500 for additional dependent  
 
Volunteers do not prepare tax returns for complex situations such as: 
  • returns for deceased persons 
  • individuals who file for bankruptcy 
  • self-employed individuals 
  • individuals who report capital gains or losses 
  • individuals who report employment expenses, or business or rental income and 
    expenses
 
 
Eligible taxpayers normally served by the CVITP include 
  • Indigenous peoples 
  • Low-income individuals and social assistance recipients 
  • Newcomers to Canada 
  • Seniors 
  • Students
Application 1) Email your name and contact info (phone #) to cvitp.wasagabeach@gmail.com. A volunteer will be in touch to arrange tax preparation by phone and E-Fiile your return. 
2) Drop off your income tax papers at the Wasaga Beach Library for those without internet access- Place in a sealed envelop addressed INCOME TAXES  
Envelope to be deposited in the Book Return slot. 
A volunteer will prepare them and return them for pickup. Make sure you have provided your name, SIN #, date of birth. Also include T-slips ,your rent information for the past year and landlord's name or property taxes paid.  
3) Phone the Wasaga Beach Library at 705-429-5481 . To leave your name and phone #, a Volunteer will be in contact.
