Description (Service) | Oversees Ontario's Personal Health Information Protection Act, Part X of the Child, Youth and Family Services Act as well as the provincial and municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Acts. Upholds and promotes individuals' right of access to most government held information, and the right to protection of personal information held by provincial and local government offices, health care providers, children's aid societies and other child and family service providers. Ensures compliance and standards. Reviews decisions where access to information has been denied, and investigates complaints with respect to personal information, research and public education. Reports directly to the Legislative Assembly of Ontario. |
