Description

Description (Service) When Environment Canada issues an extreme heat or cold alert, rest areas are available to residents for relief from extreme weather conditions. These can include public buildings such as libraries or community centres during regular business hours. Other buildings such as malls or cinemas that have air conditioning/heating could also be used.

In Wasaga Beach, the following locations are available:
  • RecPlex (including the YMCA), 1724 Mosley St - Mon-Fri 8:30 am-4:30 pm, may be open for extended hours when other programming is happening. Call for information,705-429-3321
  • Wasaga Stars Arena and Public Library, 544 River Rd W - Mon-Sun 8 am-10 pm
For emergency overnight rest station when the temperature is -30 Celcius (including wind shield) and upon notifiction from the health unit, the Oakview Room in the RecPlex will be open 8 pm-8 am.

Service Details

Public Comments The old Wasaga Beach Stars Arena at 425 River Rd West will be closed as of Jan 26, 2024. The new Wasaga Stars Arena and Public Library at 544 River St W will now be a rest station for extreme weather.
