Description (Service) Transport Canada Accredited Safe Boating Course provider. Course can be taken online or be held at a Drive A Boat facility, an organized group's location of choice. Course topics:

  • terminology
  • hypothermia
  • distress signals
  • buoys
  • markers
  • navigation lights
  • locks
  • licensing
  • fueling
  • flooding and capsizing
  • pre-departure check list
  • trip plans
All power boat operators require a proof of competency (Pleasure Craft Operator Card) and must be carried on board at all times. There are three options to obtain card:
  • online course
  • Challenge Test
  • Home Study Course and written test

Eligibility * under 12 years of age - maximum power of motor is a 10 hp, unless accompanied and directly supervised by a person 16 years or older 
* at least 12 years of age but under 16 years - power of motor is a 40 hp, unless accompanied and directly supervised by a person 16 yrs old or older 
* under 16 yrs - prohibited from operating a personal watercraft such as a jet ski, wave runner, seadoo
