Description (Service) | COVID-19 All in-person legal aid services have stopped until further notice. Contact legal aid, your lawyer or legal representative for more information. You can also contact the courthouse, board or tribunal. If you don’t have a lawyer and you need criminal or family legal advice, you can now get help over the phone without having to qualify. Lawyers provide immediate legal assistance to low-income individuals who would otherwise be unrepresented and unassisted in criminal or family court. Lawyers quickly assess a client’s legal situation and provide advice, information and representation. May include: * advice about legal rights, obligations and the court process * assistance in the courtroom for bail hearings and sentencing * assistance with diversion, guilty pleas and adjournments * help to determine if further duty counsel services are required or if the matter requires Legal Aid Ontario’s assistance in retaining a lawyer Client Service Centre phone line also provides free information, referral and advice from a lawyer |
