Description (Service) Lawyers provide immediate legal assistance to low-income people who appear in family or criminal court without a lawyer including:  
* information about legal rights, obligation and the court process  
* assistance in the courtroom for bail hearings and sentencing  
* assistance with diversions, guilty pleas and sentencing  
* helps determine if further duty counsel services are required or if the matter requires Legal Aid Ontario’s assistance in retaining a lawyer
