COVID19 Receiving calls and providing support to current families, no new intakes as it requires a face to face interview.

Provides planned, short-term and overnight respite for children, youth and adults that is possible through the cooperation of community partnerships. Can give periods of relief or rest for caregivers, helps support family life, helps relieve stress, and fulfills emergency needs where possible. Respite care is individually designed to meet the needs of the caregiver and the dependent family member. Care can be provided in the family's own home or in the home of the respite provider. Respite care person will become interactive and involved and share in the daily activities of the respite family. An in-depth screening and home study process is required of the respite family and conducted by either the Respite coordinator or one of the participating agencies The home study process will include:
  • an orientation to the Huron Respite Network
  • completion of an Application from one of the participating agencies or the Huron Respite Network
  • completion of a questionnaire for respite
  • individual/joint interviews with parents and children
  • reference checks - including Police and CAS
  • housing and safety requirements
  • fire and health inspection
  • medical information
  • service agreements
  • release of information
  • Oaths of Confidentiality and Reporting of Abuse
  • insurance

Eligibility Families and caregivers living in Huron County with adult and/or child dependents with developmental or physical disabilities. For further information please call the office.
