Description

Description (Service) Community-based organization with volunteer tutors or learning assistants to work with school-aged children and youth and support their families, to improve basic reading, writing and math skills

Services and programs include:
  • free, confidential one-on-one tutoring or learning assistance for school-aged children
  • free long-term loans of learning materials, including books, games, puzzles and kits
  • occasional workshops in related areas for children, youth and adult allies
  • public speaking and speaking to clubs, agencies, groups and organizations on aspects of literacy and social health
Volunteer opportunities are available for adults over 18 as tutors, learning assistants, board members or helpers at special events. Training is provided. Application and police check required.
