Description

Description (Service) Offers therapeutic horseback riding that promotes the rehabilitation and treatment of individuals with physical, developmental and emotional challenges. Instructors have obtained specialized training through The Canadian Therapeutic Riding Association (CanTRA). PRANCE is a member of CanTRA, Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship (PATH ) and Ontario Equestrian Federation (OEF).

Programs include:
  • Spring and Fall 10 week sessions of Therapeutic Riding and Cart Driving. Those with intellectual, physical and/or emotional challenges will benefit from bonding with the horses, the socialization with other riders and volunteers and enjoying the physicality of riding, strengthening their core muscles.
  • Equine Facilitated Wellness (EFW) a one-on one counselling program which assists those with mental and emotional health issues, available upon request.
  • March break and summer riding camps for therapeutic and able-bodied riders. Theme weeks provide campers with skills of grooming, tacking up, horse health and safety and riding skills. Over an hour each camp session is riding, the other part is theory. Spaces will be reserved on a first come, first serve basis.
  • Weekly Skills Development Program for all able-bodied beginners and those that have graduated from the therapeutic riding program.

Volunteers needed to assist riders in various capacities
