Description

Description (Service) Community mental health and addictions organization offers case management, advocacy, public education and a range of programs and services for individuals with serious mental illness or substance abuse/addiction issues. See separate listings for program and location details.

Services provided include:
  • mental health counselling for adults with serious mental illness or acute mental health problems
  • consultation, education and support for family members or loved ones of those with mental health problems
  • peer support, education and consultation for adults with mental illness
  • assessment, referral and community treatment for adults and youth with substance abuse and/or gambling problems and their families
  • supportive, affordable housing, residential services, outreach support, life skills teaching, and social/recreational services for those with serious mental illness
  • community development, consultation, education and information services for service providers, consumer/survivors and family members and the broader community
  • telemedicine primary care services for clients receiving mental health/addictions services who do not have a family physician/nurse practitioner or their primary care provider is agreeable to a shared care model
Self-help support groups are offered for people with mental illness and for family members/loved ones of those with serious mental illness, call for more information. Programs include:
