Description

Description (Service) Meaford Moves+ is a fully accessible, door-to-door transit service for those with temporary or permanent mobility challenges, or who identify as having a physical, sensory, cognitive or mental health disability. It can be used to book your ride to work, doctors and medical appointments, or to go to your favourite coffee shop in town with a friend. Out of town rides to Owen Sound, Thornbury, and Collingwood for medical appointments are also available.

  • Bookings for travel to Collingwood, Thornbury and Owen Sound for medical appointments is also available
Attendant or companion can accompany the rider. Drivers are trained to expertly load and care for individuals with disabilities and their special equipment.

Scooters and electric wheelchairs (depending on their size, weight and type) are permitted on the transit bus. Please get your devices verified by the transit operator ahead of time to make sure they can fit securely.

Eligibility Residents of the Municipality of Meaford who have an accessibility issue.
Applicants must either:
  • Have a healthcare professional sign off on the application, or
  • Provide proof of eligibility through documents such as an Accessible Parking Permit, proof of ODSP, etc
Disabilities include those identified in the Ontario Human Rights Code, including but not limited to physical, sensory, cognitive and mental health disabilities. Qualification is not based on income or age.
Application Call in advance to book a trip. Minimum of 48 hours notice is required. Eligibility card is provided upon registration and required for each trip
To apply for Meaford Moves+ eligibility card, complete the Specialized Transit Application Form that is available:

  • by calling 519-538-1060 to request a hard copy mailed
  • by emailing transit@meaford.ca
The application form can be completed and signed by one of the listed Health Care Professionals or by providing the information from a valid Ontario Accessible Parking Permit to the Municipal Office. The application must be either signed by the applicant, or signed on behalf of the applicant if he/she is incapable of signing.

Fees Fares: All prices are for one-way trips only. Up to two companions can ride with the eligible rider. Companions pay the same fare. If a support person is required to be able to use the bus, the support person travels free.
