Description (Service)

Provides Christmas meal. Meal/hamper usually includes turkey, vegetables, meal condiments, fruit and milk.

Provides a gift for children under the age of 16. Special requests (diapers, etc.) can be made to meet individual needs.

Meal will be delivered to those in town. Out of town clients will pick up the meal at the parking lot of the Northern Credit Union (118 Queen St S).

Donations
Donations will be accepted until the Wednesday, Dec 18, 2024:

  • At the Food bank, by appointment during operating hours.
  • Northern Credit Union during business hours
  • Durham Library (453 Garafraxa St S) during business hours

Money donations will be accepted at the Royal Bank on Garafaxa St. Cheques are to be made out to Durham and District Food Bank

Volunteers needed in December to fill hampers, call 519-369-6860 and leave a message for details and to confirm location.

Eligibility Low income families. Registration is required to receive a hamper.

Application Please note as the food bank building is under construction, phone messages are being forwarded to a cellphone. This is affecting the quality of the phone service. To this end please speak clearly leaving your phone number and you will be contacted on one of the next service dates. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Application forms available mid Oct at Heritage Corner Variety (393 Garafraxa St N), The Bookstore (144 Garafraxa St S), Durham Library (453 Garafraxa St S) or by phone.

Completed application can be dropped off at any of these locations.

People living outside the village of Durham can register by phone at 519-369-6860.

Number of people in the house and proof of income and expenses required as well as number and ages of any children ages 16 or under (as outlined in the application form).
