|Description (Service)||Pathways is an emergency program that can assist families and individuals living with low incomes in Huron County when they are most in need. The aim of the program is to reduce child poverty, promote attachment, help parents return to the workforce and prevent homelessness.
Assistance may include:
Emergency childcare * emergency dental * emergency heat/hydro * emergency housing * emergency rent * emergency transportation * eyeglasses * limited assistance with cost of prosthetic items * medications (one time in an emergency)
Pathways may pay up to $750 per year for rent, heat, or hydro for individuals or families with an eviction notice or disconnection notice, or $500 per year for health related items. Further funding may be available to cover emergency items related to prevention of child poverty or attachment to the workforce.
Funding comes from various sources including Community Homelessness Prevention Initiative CHPI and Low-Income Energy Assistance Program for customers of Westcoast Hydro and Erie Thames Power.

|Application||Reach Pathways by contacting Huron County Social and Property Services and ask to speak to the Pathways Case Manager.
People receiving Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP) assistance should also call Huron County Social Services and speak directly to the Pathways case manager who will take your information to see if the program can help you. They may also put you in touch with other community and government resources.
Customers of Hydro One must first call the United Way of Greater Simcoe County at 1-855-487-5327 to apply for the Low-Income Energy Assistance Program (LEAP). Leave a message and the call will be returned within 24 hours. If application is declined under the LEAP program or assistance received will not cover total costs owing, then contact Pathways for consideration of assistance with the balance.
Ontario Works clients must contact their case manager for assistance through Pathways.
