Description (Service) | Information: Rental arrears assistance for households who have COVID-19 Pandemic related income loss (lost a shift due to staying home with a child for a day, loss of job/income, quarantine requirements etc). It can also assist low income seniors who have lost a portion of their Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS) due to the fact that the COVID-19 assistance they may be getting is not considered employment earnings. Guidelines for this fund are flexible and United Way of Bruce Grey would rather prevent homelessness, so if there is any loss of income, complete Intake Survey. Applicants DO NOT have to have an eviction notice to qualify, as long as their income loss is COVID related. They need to be late by at least one day and be able to get a letter from their landlord verifying this. Arrears assistance is dependent on the landlord allowing the tenants to stay. It will not be paid out if an eviction notice has been OFFICIALLY GRANTED and the eviction cannot be prevented. Arrears assistance is dependent on the SUPPORT allowing the tenants to stay. If someone has a pending eviction notice, refer them to the Grey-Bruce Community Legal Clinic Available assistance (based on income limit - see eligibility)
Accessing assistance through this fund does NOT reduce eligibility for the United Way of Bruce Grey's regular Utility Assistance fund. Individuals with income loss NOT due to COVID, should attempt to access CHPI funds through Bruce or Grey County. Do not refer individuals in need, due to COVID, to the Bruce County Housing Stability Fund or the Grey County Sustainable Housing Benefit (although they can access it for utility arrears). The United Way of Bruce County will go through any other options with them. Procedure 1. Introduction to Caller:
