Volunteers engage with the athletes in weekly sport programs, or can assist council with administrative support. Description (Service) Promotes opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities to:
  • develop physical fitness
  • demonstrate courage
  • experience success
  • develop skills and friendship with their families, other special Olympic athletes and the community

Activities include a variety of indoor and outdoor sports including:
  • 5- and 10-pin bowling
  • swimming
  • rhythmic gymnastics
  • curling
  • nordic skiing
  • soccer
  • softball
  • floor hockey
  • bocce
  • golf
  • equestrian
  • basketball
Athletes participate at local, regional, provincial, national and world levels.
