Description (Service)

Provides Christmas assistance. Meal assistance and a gift card will be provided and toys or gift cards for children up to the age of 16 years of age.


If someone can not pick up hamper themselves, they can make arrangements for a family member or friend to pick it up on their behalf, but must let The Salvation Army know of the arrangements so they will release the hamper to their friend/family with the proof of proper ID.

All donations are welcomed and can be dropped off at your local grocery store collection bin or The Salvation Army Family Services/Church office in Hanover. Please call before drop off to make sure someone is on site and available to accept your donation, or call to arrange another drop off time. For Chesley, please drop your donations at Chesley Grocer. Large donations can be arranged by calling the church office at 519-364-3450.

Money donations made by cheque are to be made payable to The Salvation Army Hanover. Donations above $20 will be given a tax receipt if you provide accurate contact information in/on an envelope. Please specify the program on the cheque - Christmas Assistance, Kettle Campaign or Foodbank.


Volunteer opportunities with Christmas Kettles available starting after November 11th. Call or walk in to office for more information or to complete an application. In high demand for kettle volunteers.

Hours Registration: by appointment only, starting the 1st week of Nov

Registration deadline: 3rd week of Nov

Pick up time, date and location will be given at registration.

Donation drop off: Mon-Fri 9:30 am-3 pm
Areas Served Chesley ; Hanover ; Walkerton ; West Grey ; and surrounding area
Eligibility Anyone in need, but program is limited to those who are not already receiving assistance from another organization. 
Residents of Hanover and Chesley and surrounding area.
Application To apply, call or text to make an appointment. Applications are made in person only. Hardcopy identification and proof of address is required to apply.
