Description (Service) | COVID-19 Due to concerns regarding COVID-19, all income tax clinics have been placed on hold until further notice For individuals unable to complete their income tax and benefit return themselves and are unable to pay for assistance, the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP) may be able to assist * Volunteers can help complete the income tax and benefit return if income is low and tax situation is simple Will complete prior and current year returns |

Eligibility | These suggested maximum income levels should serve as a guideline only Single: Up to $35,000 Married or common law: Up to $45,000 One adult with child: Up to $40,000 (Add $2,500 per additional child) Interest income limited to under $1,000 Local community organizations have the flexibility to adjust or set additional eligibility criteria for taxpayers based on the local economic environment, the population they serve, and their own capacity Volunteers do not prepare tax returns for complex situations such as: * returns for deceased persons; * individuals who file for bankruptcy; * self-employed individuals; * individuals who report capital gains or losses; or * individuals who report employment expenses, or business or rental income and expenses. Eligible taxpayers normally served by the CVITP include: * Aboriginal peoples; * Low-income individuals and social assistance recipients; * Newcomers to Canada; * Seniors; and * Students |
Application | By appointment only Call the office of Alex Ruff, MP to request an appointment * Leave a message for a volunteer who will return your call after 5 pm to arrange an appointment time * Do not call or go to any Community Living office, all appointments and inquiries are arranged through office of Alex Ruff If you are unable to call to arrange an appointment, walk in on clinic dates to book an appointment Cancellations: 2 business days notice prior to appointment date is required to cancel an appointment * No shows will lose the privilege of using the clinic |
