Description (Service) | COVID-19 Response The free income tax clinics are open for drop-off service. There are no in-person appointments. Call 519-371-9222, press 6, ask for Kara (or leave a message) or email employment@osgb.ymca.ca. Kara will respond with instructions to arrange drop off. Drop off will be at the YMCA Owen Sound Grey Bruce Employment Services office in Owen Sound. Virtual Tax Service is also now available. Tax preparation over the phone or online video chat. Call for information. Regular Service For individuals unable to complete their income tax and benefit return themselves and are unable to pay for assistance, the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP) may be able to assist. Volunteers can help complete the income tax and benefit return if income is low and tax situation is simple. Can prepare current and previous years' returns. |

Eligibility | These suggested maximum income levels should serve as a guideline only Single individual – up to $35,000 Two-person family – up to $45,000 (combined income of a couple, or one adult with one child under 18) + add $2,500 for each additional dependent child in the family Interest income limited to under $1,000 Local community organizations have the flexibility to adjust or set additional eligibility criteria for taxpayers based on the local economic environment, the population they serve, and their own capacity Volunteers do not prepare tax returns for complex situations such as: * returns for deceased persons * individuals who file for bankruptcy * self-employed individuals * individuals who report capital gains or losses * individuals who report employment expenses, or business or rental income and expenses Eligible taxpayers normally served by the CVITP include: * Aboriginal peoples * Low-income individuals and social assistance recipients * Newcomers to Canada * Students |
