Description
Description (Service) The Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP) is available free to any eligible taxpayer who meets the following criteria:
     
  • Aboriginals; 
  • Low-income individuals; 
  • Social assistance recipients; 
  • ODSP recipients;  
  • Newcomers to Canada; 
  • Seniors; and 
  • Students 
 
 
Suggested income criteria are: 
 
  • individuals earnings up to $30,000 
  • one adult with one child earning a family income of up to $35,000  
  • couples earning a family income of up to $40,000 
  • family of 3 earning a family income of up to $42,500 
  • family of 4 earning a family income of up to $45,000 
  • family of 5 earning a family income of up to $47,500 
  • family of more than 5 earning a family income of $47,500 plus $2,500 for each additional person 
     
     
    Local community organizations have the flexibility to adjust or set additional eligibility criteria for taxpayers based on the local economic environment, the population they serve, and their own capacity. 
     
    Volunteers do not prepare tax returns for complex situations such as:
       
    • deceased persons; 
    • individuals who file for bankruptcy; 
    • self-employed individuals; 
    • individuals who report capital gains or losses; or 
    • individuals who report employment expenses, or business or rental income and expenses. 
     
     
    The following are the free Income Tax Clinics available in your area: 
     
    Haliburton and Area 
    Contact: Marlene Watson, Volunteer - 705-455-9708 
    Drop-off Clinic every Friday from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm until April 20, 2018 at the Royal Canadian Legion, 719 Mountain St, Haliburton, ON and participants drop off Taxes and will be able to pick up their income tax at a later date. Walk-ins are welcome. 
     
    Wilberforce 
    Contact: Marlene Watson, Volunteer - 705-455-9708 
    Drop-off Clinic every Wednesday 2:00 to 3:30 pm until April 25, 2018 at Highway 648, Wilberforce, ON and participants drop off Taxes and will be able to pick up their income tax at a later date. Walk-ins are welcome. 
     
    Please bring with you all T4 slips, Pension earnings, earning statement from WSIB, any medical expenses you will be claiming and any other documentation you may have received in the mail from the Government for Income Tax purposes.
