Service: Community Volunteer Income Tax Program

Description
Description (Service) Program assists individuals to complete their income tax and benefit return. The Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP) volunteers prepare and E-File returns if the individual meets the criteria.

Can complete current and prior year returns.

Hours Mon,Tue,Thu, Fri 10 am-12 noon, 1 pm-4 pm, Wed 1 pm-4 pm, 5 pm-7 pmDates: Mar and Apr
Areas Served Midland
Eligibility Suggested maximum income level:
  • Single: Up to $35,000
  • Couple: Up to $45,000
  • One adult with child: Up to $35,000
  • $2500 for additional dependent


Volunteers do not prepare tax returns for complex situations such as:
  • returns for deceased persons
  • individuals who file for bankruptcy
  • self-employed individuals
  • individuals who report capital gains or losses
  • individuals who report employment expenses, or business or rental income and
    expenses


Eligible taxpayers normally served by the CVITP include
  • Indigenous peoples
  • Low-income individuals and social assistance recipients
  • Newcomers to Canada
  • Seniors
  • Students
Application Phone and speak with Faith to do initial intake and make arrangements to drop off tax documents.
At drop off, Faith will check identification of client.
Volunteer will complete and Efile the return.
Upon completion, Faith will call client to arrange pick up of return.
