Description (Service) Serves the community by providing protection from fire, life threatening emergencies and dangerous conditions through:
  • education
  • prevention
  • rescue
  • suppression
  • basic life support services
  • public education
  • fire suppression and fire safety programs
  • annual 'Fire Prevention Week' held in October.
Open Fire violations fall under municipal by-laws
  • burning permit required for any open fire is available from the municipal offices at 10 Robert St. W.
  • failure to apply for permit could result in prosecution
Smoke alarms are required on every floor of a house or apartment unit
  • must be maintained by the occupant or owner.
