Description (Service) Program assists individuals to complete their income tax and benefit return. The Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP) volunteers prepare and E-File returns if the individual meets the criteria.

Can complete current and prior year returns.

Eligibility Suggested maximum income level:
  • Single: Up to $35,000
  • Couple: Up to $45,000
  • One adult with child: Up to $35,000
  • $2500 for additional dependent

Volunteers do not prepare tax returns for complex situations such as:
  • returns for deceased persons
  • individuals who file for bankruptcy
  • self-employed individuals
  • individuals who report capital gains or losses
  • individuals who report employment expenses, or business or rental income and

Eligible taxpayers normally served by the CVITP include
  • Indigenous peoples
  • Low-income individuals and social assistance recipients
  • Newcomers to Canada
  • Seniors
  • Students
Application This is a virtual clinic - there will be no physical contact. Income tax returns will be prepared via video conference ( e.g. Skype, FaceTime, WhatsApp video call, Google Hangouts, Zoom)Call to make appointmentHouse visits for housebound clients can be arranged.
