Description (Service) The Simcoe County Green Bin Collection program collects compostible items from all single family homes and some multi-residential homes. Household organic items are to be placed in Green Bins which are available from the County.
If you can eat it it goes in the Green Bin, including meats, bones, fats, shellfish etc.
Pet Waste, Kitty Litter and animal bedding can now go in the green bin.

Paper fibre products can be included such as take-out food and coffee cups (loose not stacked) waxed cold drink cups
  • tissues
  • serviettes
  • paper towels
  • paper plates
  • coffee filters
  • microwave popcorn bags.
Other items for your green bin include:
  • wood ash
  • dryer lint
  • feathers
  • popsicle sticks
  • toothpicks
  • paper take out containers
  • sawdust
  • feathers
  • hair
  • houseplants etc.
DO NOT include: Leaf and yard waste, pet waste, feminine sanitary products, diapers, vacuum bags or cigarettes.
Green bins are to be left at curbside on your recycling collection days collected bi-weekly. Maximum limit per container is 20 kg (44 lbs). To find out if a particular item is compostible go to this website:
