| Description (Service) | Works to provide affordable homeownership opportunities for low-income families. Works with community partners to build affordable houses and provide interest-free mortgages to families who would otherwise not be able to purchase their own homes. Operates ReStores that are located throughout the region are staffed with paid employees as well as volunteers. They accept and sell new and gently used donations of building materials, furnishings and home decor. Sales of merchandise help to cover local administrative costs and support the building of homes and other Habitat for Humanity projects in the various communities in the affiliate territory. |

| Public Comments | On September 1 2014, Habitat for Humanity affiliates from Orillia Lake Country, North Simcoe, Muskoka, North Bay and Sudbury District legally amalgamated and formed a new region under the title Habitat for Humanity Ontario Gateway North. The regionalization centralized administrative resources out of the Bracebridge office. Donor wishes are respected in keeping donations in specified communities for home builds. |

| Eligibility | The three criteria to qualify for a Habitat home are (1) need for affordable housing, (2) ability to repay a Habitat mortgage and (3) willingness to partner with Habitat. Families who are selected are required to complete 500 hours of volunteer hoours and take on a mortgage administered by Habitat for Humanity. |
