Description (Service)

Provides help to reduce the effects of stroke through treatment that follows province-wide best practices for stroke

The stroke team provides acute care for people who have experienced strokes
This includes initial rehabilitation services for inpatients to help reduce the effects of their physical, cognitive and communicative deficits
Assessments are completed to determine whether the patient requires post-stroke rehabilitation services at a specialized centre outside of the area
Services include administration of tPA (an activating clot busting drug) based on a patient's clinical criteria
Supports the District of Muskoka and East Parry Sound communities
