Description

Description (Service) The Ontario Community Emergency Assistance Program (OCEAP) provides recruiting, training and deploying volunteers when requested by emergency services such as police, fire or ems.
  • OCEAP volunteers are trained to provide ground search and rescue services.
  • Members are trained to meet a number of roles during other emergency situations such as evacuation centres or emergency operations centre support.
  • OCEAP can only be deployed through police, fire or EMS

Hours Mon-Sun 24 hours
Areas Served Northumberland County
Eligibility Volunteers: Minimum 19 years of age
Vulnerable sector screening clearance
Class G drivers license and reliable vehicle
Capable of responding to Port Hope or Cobourg within 90 minutes of an emergency call
Standard First Aid and CPR level C
Ability to work in a paramilitary command structure
Dedicate the time to respond to call outs, training and events [ 6-8 hours per month]
Members must purchase their own uniform and kit within their first year [ approx. $300 ]
Application Contact local emergency services or dial 911. OCEAP can only be deployed through police, fire or EMS. Teams can be activated on a 7/24/365 basis
