Eligibility | Students who are unable to work or who cannot find work due to COVID-19: * currently enrolled in a post-secondary educational program * who completed or ended their post-secondary studies in December 2019 or later * who completed or expect to complete high school, or received, or expect to receive their high school equivalency in 2020, and have applied for a post-secondary educational program that starts before February 1, 2021 Must be a Canadian citizen, registered Indian, permanent resident, or protected person Students must be actively looking for work and cannot already be receiving the Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB) or Employment Insurance (EI) Various other criteria apply, visit the website for additional criteria Could eligibility be expanded to include citizenship status as requirement (only Canadian citizens, registered Indians, PR and protected persons can get CESB) so international students who are here on a study permit only do not qualify.
