Description (Service) | Waste Reduction Programs: Recycling collection and depots where household papers, boxboard, empty paper cups (no lids), cardboard, food and beverage cans, milk and juice cartons, plastic bottles, plastic tubs and lids, plastic food trays (clean) and glass bottles can be recycled. Household Hazardous Waste Depot is open six days a week (Mon-Sat) at the Waste Diversion Site during regular site hours. Residents are able to pick up free cans of paint during regular hours of operation at the Reuse Depot (closed during winter months). There is also a Reuse Depot set up dedicated to household items, such as furniture, books and dishes where residents can pick up these items free of charge, and this depot is open year-round. Recycling Depots are available at the Waste Diversion Site for scrap metal, electronics, tires, drywall, brush, wood waste, plastic flower pots, mattresses/box springs, refrigeration equipment and blue box recyclables. Fees may apply. |

Public Comments | The Townships of Severn, Ramara, and Oro-Medonte receive waste collection and disposal services from the County of Simcoe. The only exception is Household Hazardous Waste. Townships of Severn, Ramara and Oro-Medonte may use the City of Orillia's Household Hazardous Waste Depot. These residents may also drop off Green Bin/Yard Waste for a fee of $20 per tonne. |

Application | Garbage is picked up every other week. Recycling and compost are picked up weekly. View Schedule Here Garbage collected at curbside requires a garbage tag for collection and must be out by 7 am. As of February 7, 2022, garbage placed out for collection must be in a clear plastic bag with the option of up to two small shopping bag-sized privacy bags. Rigid containers can still be used for garbage set-out, but if the container is lined, it must be with a clear plastic bag. Diapers set out separately in a clear plastic bag do not require a garbage tag on garbage pick up days. Green Bin/yard waste is collected year round for composting at the Waste Diversion Site (landfill). Bags or containers of grass clippings require a garbage tag.
